[Walter turns on the video for the journal, sets it up and then moves back, sitting down on a chair in front of it. He's wear a lab coat over his usual checkered shirt and sweater cardigan combo and looks quite gleeful, gesturing toward the camera with a welcoming motion.]

Fellow denizens of Luceti! My name is Walter Bishop and I come to you with a unique request.

I would like to take a tissue and wing sample from every person in the compound - a simple test, really, very quick, not at all painful [Says the man who can tolerate electroshock therapy with a smile] - in order to help the scientists of our great community better understand the makeup of this universe.

Should you and several of your companions be from the same world, it would be most helpful if one or all could donate, although one should suffice if anyone is a tad squeamish.

I will be taking the samples this afternoon in the plaza.

Oh! And hot cocoa will be provided for compensation of course. I'm no madman.

This afternoon, starting at 1pm. Any and all volunteers are welcome! Those who don't wish to volunteer, don't worry - I'm sure I can find you somehow, yes?

[As promised, Walter is bundled up in warmer clothes at the plaza with a little table of lab equipment and a rather large cooler that holds several Thermoses of hot cocoa. There are even little marshmallows for people who want them.]

Son, I'm not sure any of us are real, but for the sake of the argument, yes.

And not much, a small sample - enough to be able to get a good genetic grasp of what makes you and your world unique.

Well, that's very rude. There aren't any test tubes involved at all. They're microscope sample slides.

[ While she doesn't get a chance to reply that morning, Ikki shows up cheerfully around the time stated - so, about fifteen after one. Soren the bird pokemon is accompanying her as usual, and Ikki herself is dressed for the weather, warmly enough to play outside. ]

Walter!! You're doing science-y stuff?

[ Obviously. She doesn't really know what he meant by tissue sample, but she figures he wants a feather or something from the wings. ]

Hello! And yes! I am! It's very exciting - a new theory about how this world functions!

What...does this test involve, exactly?

Oh, it's very simple - a blood sample and a tissue sample. Both are exceedingly easy and rather painless to obtain. A scraping of your skin and a prick of the finger and then it's cocoa time!

Well, that's rather disappointing. Although I suppose it was on a volunteer basis - for those interested in helping the others in the compound.

[Spock's brows furrow as he listens to Walter's message. Illogical. But he does understand what the man is trying to do.
At 1, the Vulcan is in his long black coat, scarf hat and gloves... and makes his way towards Walter.]

Interesting experiment you are attempting. Though I thought we already discussed the futility of it?

Futility is only in giving up, my friend.

[Walter smiles as he looks up from his display, goggles resting on the top of his head rather than over his eyes like they usually are. He hasn't had a good body to dissect in awhile, so he's busying himself with rearranging and labelling the slides.]

The battle is never won by those without perseverance.

[There is no way in any realm he's giving his flesh or blood to anyone else. But that this crazed mortal seems to be collecting such samples could be useful. Just for a rainy day, really, or as an insurance policy. He's not worried about having a sample taken from him against his will.]

I'm interested in the research itself, actually. Is it only you on this project?

Currently, yes - although the idea was surmised from a conversation with Mr. Robert Lutece. A brilliant mind in that one.

Unfortunately, if I cannot collect enough samples, I won't be able to complete said research in a timely fashion.

It's either that or I drug everyone and wait for them to fall asleep. But I distinctly remember Agent Dunham saying I wasn't allowed to do such things. ...At least, I think I do.

Harmless! Yes, hello! And yes, everyone in the enclosure would be preferable. A wider sample size means a better spectrum for my analysis of harmonic frequencies.
