[Walter turns on the video for the journal, sets it up and then moves back, sitting down on a chair in front of it. He's wear a lab coat over his usual checkered shirt and sweater cardigan combo and looks quite gleeful, gesturing toward the camera with a welcoming motion.]

Fellow denizens of Luceti! My name is Walter Bishop and I come to you with a unique request.

I would like to take a tissue and wing sample from every person in the compound - a simple test, really, very quick, not at all painful [Says the man who can tolerate electroshock therapy with a smile] - in order to help the scientists of our great community better understand the makeup of this universe.

Should you and several of your companions be from the same world, it would be most helpful if one or all could donate, although one should suffice if anyone is a tad squeamish.

I will be taking the samples this afternoon in the plaza.

Oh! And hot cocoa will be provided for compensation of course. I'm no madman.

This afternoon, starting at 1pm. Any and all volunteers are welcome! Those who don't wish to volunteer, don't worry - I'm sure I can find you somehow, yes?

[Action: Plaza, 1PM]
[As promised, Walter is bundled up in warmer clothes at the plaza with a little table of lab equipment and a rather large cooler that holds several Thermoses of hot cocoa. There are even little marshmallows for people who want them.]

Yes, I've formed a new hypothesis about the enclosure - one I'm most excited to test!

[Iron? Irod. ..no...What was the man's name? Blast it all, he could never remember names anymore.]

Oh! Tea!

Yes, I remember you - the man with the tea! How are you?

I see.

[He takes a sip]

Iroh, in case you have forgotten.

[Not offended particularly]

I have been better, my nephew has recently returned back to our world.

Iroh, yes. The man with the tea. He--

[Oh. ...Oh that isn't good news.]

I-I'm sorry to hear that... Will he- Will he be alright?

It is alright. He has a nation to rule and a world to restore.

[He was accustomed to him being away for long time periods]

It is... better for the world that he is there.

I see. [Even so, having family gone wasn't easy. This isn't something Walter is particularly good at, and he starts wringing at his left hand again, rubbing it unconsciously as he glances away from the video camera.]

I. I'm glad he is safe at least. That is good, yes?

Yes, that is one thing. It doesn't really stop me from missing him though.

[He looks thoughtful for a moment]

So, tell me of this theory of yours, Walter.

..No, nothing ever does. [He's not really thinking of Iroh so much as just knowing the pain of losing someone close to you. Everyone close to him, really. He understands. When he comes back to the conversation, he stutters for a moment before launching into his usual chipper self when talking of science.]

A-ah, yes, my theory. The theory! Yes! Every universe vibrates on its own frequency and scale - some a Major C, another - G. It is my theory that this universe - and the compound within which we reside - must be vibrating at several frequencies at once, a harmony, if you will, in order to compensate for the energy exchange necessary to bring a live human being from one world to another and keep them alive. This pocket universe - which would explain why time seems to stop for us at home while it carries on here - must be vibrating at such a variety of frequencies as to keep us all alive.

Now, by finding said harmonic frequency, it could be possible to better understand the mechanism that brings us here and sends us back. At the very least it could serve as an early warning if one frequency in particular begins to vibrate at a higher volume than the others - indicating either an entry or an exit of a person from that world. At best, it could help us move forward in the pursuit of going home.

Do you see? Isn't it wonderful? Music. Music is the key!

[Iroh listens without interrupting to the theory. It was certainly an interesting theory, he couldn't say he understood it particularly though.]

I see. So my universe would be resounding at a particular pitch different from yours?

[He strokes his beard]

And the meeting point of the notes happens here, by either design or naturally?

Yes, exactly! Your universe, the one with the squished together animals, is quite different from ours. The pitch and frequency at which it vibrates would be such as to keep us from interacting entirely under normal circumstances.

Whether the meeting point is natural or by design has yet to be uncovered - but this is why I need more samples.

...But everyone is so angry about a simple request. You would think I was asking for parts of their brains.
