Happy Fireworks Day!!

[Walter is yelling and he doesn't care. This day celebrates with one of the most awesome chemistry achievements ever and he's going to have fun.

He sets the journal down and gleefully runs back a few meters until he's in the middle of the Flame Building rooftop where he's set up a sizeable display of fireworks hobbled together from different things, mixed in with ones he's found at the stores leading up to today.

He also has no cares to give that it's just past 7AM on July 4th. Whatever, losers, get out of bed.

He lights a large cylinder and runs off camera until it erupts sparks and shoots lines of brightly colored fire into the air accompanied by booming noises.]

Haha!! Excellent! I knew it would work!

[Walter runs back and speaks excitedly at the book, even if the camera is focused on the firework erupting.]

I'm making hot dogs on the roof! Everyone come get some! And come blow things up with me. Even if you're not American, this holiday is good fun,

Oh! I'm on the Flame Building, but I shouldn't be hard to find.

[There's another large boom and he jumps, then laughs as sparks shoot across the rooftop toward him.]

[Eley enjoyed fireworks, so a day celebrating them was definitely something to be pleased about! However, he had to wonder exactly why today was a special occasion for them. Fireworks were quite common on other days too after all...

And what on earth was he talking about, 'making hot dogs?']

How exactly are you making these... hot dogs. And for what purpose? Is it not cruel? [Wait a minute, his eyes widen as he realises just what the man said.] You are not 'blowing up' these dogs, are you?

You really don't want to know how hot dogs are made, my-- Whatever you are.

[He really can't tell if this is a boy or a girl actually.]

And no, I'm grilling the hot dog and blowing up chemical compounds!

[Of course that doesn't cross Eley's mind at all and he assumes Walter just doesn't know what kind of being he is instead. He raises a hand and places it on his chest, realising introductions might be in order.]

[His hand drops as he continues their previous discussion.]

I... do want to know how they are made. I am curious, could you explain?

Grinding up the discarded parts of meat that don't make it onto the shelves, cuttings and other bits that no one normally wants to swallow. That said, I made these with different ingredients than normal, but they should be nevertheless quite delicious.

[He clears his throat.]

Am I high right now? I can never be certain if my latest test batch is working.

Of course, humans do not usually consume all of the animals they feed upon. Or perhaps they do... given your explanation.

You mean "modern" humans. Technically, there are several cultures in the past to whom not consuming or using the entirety of the animal was considered sacrilege.

And no, no, I mean high, in an altered state of consciousness. I have to test because the natural ingredients are unavailable here.

There are...? [He tilts his head at that. Perhaps in other worlds. Though he couldn't say he'd spent a great deal of time observing the past cultures of his own world, having only recently become interested in humans, he was sure that no history referred to a need to use all parts of an animal.

Is that what you call it? I would assume that an altering of your consciousness would be a very personal thing. What exactly are the signs that one is... 'high'?

Yes, several Native American tribes, for example. They would use every part of the hunted animals. Or very nearly.

Depending on a person's physiology and the type of drug they have consumed, their signs can be very different.

Although, yes, unless you link your conscious to another's, it is normally a very personal experience.

I suppose it is good that they do not waste the sacrifice the animal has made for them. Hmm, I can respect that.

And... I see. [Sort of Perhaps. WHAT IS DRUGS.] Well then, is there any particular reason you believe you may be high? I am sure you can read the signs far better than I can.
