Yes, hello! Anyone of you, I've noticed these peculiar displacements all over the village as I'm sure you all have. It started out small enough, but the frequency of them is beginning to become alarming. An isolated incident or two, I can overlook, but this many? If only I had my lab, I could better measure this phenomenon...

Oh, yes! Data! I need data. Any occurrences you've witnessed, how long, the nature of the displacement, anything else you can remember about the event. Report here.

And if you see a cow, I want one.

Ah, cat farts, yes. Strange that an animal so small can be so malodorous.

I preferred dogs. But they were just as bad.

Well, to be honest I never really pictured myself as a pet person at all. Just can't seem to get rid of these two that I have. I guess they just really wanted a person-pet themselves!

[Not that he'd ever want to be rid of them at this point. They were the only family he had left in Luceti.]

But pets are wonderful! We had a dog named Rufus - wonderful thing, absolutely wonderful. I used to sing to him when he had night terrors as a pup.

What breeds of cat do you have? Mixed?

With a slightly larger, yet nearly carbon copy with a little ring of brown around one eye is another cat curled up and sleeping in a ball on the cushions.]] I don't really know much about cats to be honest.

Their heads are huge.

Yeah, they kind of are, aren't they? I mean, they look just like the other cats from my world so I never really noticed until I arrived here and saw other cats. I guess my world just has big headed cats. Maybe it's the heat...

Fascinating....Do all fauna on your world have such gigantic noggins?

I didn't think so, but we don't really have much in the way of fauna. The dogs I've seen here and back home seem about the same. Although I haven't seen something that really compares to some of the other animals we have.

And what would those animals be? If they also appear to have large heads, it could be a planetary device. If not, perhaps your cats are simply a large-headed breed.

Well, we have lizards that seem normal. Our snakes and scorpions don't seem too different from the few I've seen here. Although I've never seen anything like a Thomas here. They're a pack animal. We use them like horses only they don't look anything like a horse. Actually they have really small heads but long necks.

Can you describe these "Thomas" things? I'm quite interested in learning about foreign fauna as a distraction here. Those spirits seem to avoid me like the plague so far, so I haven't had much luck.

Hmmm, [How to explain an animal like a Thomas.] Well, they're big enough to ride. With brown fur and stand on two legs. No arms, but they have a long thick tale and a long neck that keeps the balanced. Their heads are pretty small with two eyes on the side of their heads and a really long, thin tongue.

Or, well, hm. [There's a pause as Vash grabs a pencil and starts to doodle in the journal. Eventually the doodle will come through for Bishop to see a very crude rough drawing of a Thomas.]

Well! That's certainly not something one sees everyday. You say they're used as pack animals?

Yeah, they're probably one of our more popular animals as they do pretty well on long distance trips and can carry a few bags or pull a cart. Well, besides sandworms, but those are nearly impossible to train. Best to just keep your distance really.

....You have sandworms?

[He sounds entirely too excited about that.]

Sure do. From what I understand no desert planet is complete without sandworms.

A desert planet as well? If you have any information on your world, I'd love to read about it - science, geography, anything.

[His mind flashes to an image of his wanted poster that likes to show up from time to time.] Ah, haha, afraid not. At least, not that I know of. Although I've never spent all that much time in the library here, so there could be!

[There are indeed a couple books about the world Vash is from, but not in the same manga form as others may have in the library. Which is good because those books wouldn't follow his own timeline very well and just be a confusing mess.]

If you ever find anything, I'd be very interested in having a look at it. Desert planets are fascinating.

Not if you have to live on it. Then it's more annoying than fascinating.

Hmm, always feeling like you're dying of thirst? Dry skin? And finding out there are some places that should never have sand in it ever. [Vash doesn't feel the need to go into detail on THAT one.] Can't say that I do, really.

Reminds me of a few trips I've had when I didn't mix things properly. [He chuckles.]

And I slept on a beach once. That always has you waking up a little out of sorts in the morning. Especially if you sleep nude.
