whoops crazy time

[Not long after this post from the Malnosso's new therapist, there is a huge racket going on at the Welcome Center. His rage at the thought of being taken to therapy and his instability in Luceti has gone over the edge and Walter is screaming and throwing chairs and bed mattresses, lamps and anything else he can get his hands on. The tirade is caught on video as he throws his journal across the room, smashing it into the wall and jolting it on. It shows him upside down.]

I will not go! They can't make me!

Peter! Peter!! [He picks up a glass and smashes it against the far wall.]

Disgusting, dirty, everything is contaminated with their evil! They're watching our every move! Everything we do! Our entire lives - our privacy, our names!

Damn vipers among our ranks and we can't even ferret them out?!

I won't go! I will NOT be taken again!! Peter! You can't let them take me again!

[He grabs a lamp and smashes it against the floor repeatedly.]

I'll find how you watch us and I'll destroy it! I'll find it and destroy it!!!

You said you were a scientist? Can it not be possible for time to freeze? You do not, as they say, 'practice as you preach'.

We exist in an anomaly, a place that should not exist. Perhaps you should consider that in your calculations before you come to any conclusions.

You are not the only one that does not wish to remain here Mister Bishop.

[Spock dries his hands and leaves the bathroom as well.]

Do what you wish. I live at house number two should you decide to utilize my lab.

[Spock starts to walk away.]

Even in a bubble universe, a pocket universe, there is still time moving. [He pushes through the wreckage and finds a pen, starting to write on the walls.] Time cannot be stopped, only displaced. The time we experience here may be accelerated compared to what we experience at home, but that does not mean time stops where we are from. For time to stop, it would cause a cataclysmic event.

[Mathematical formulas begin to clutter the walls, theorems on how time and space intertwine.]

Essentially, we are trapped in a pocket, but in infinitesimal ways, time in our individual universes are still moving forward. The span of a blink of an eye perhaps, but even that small blip could cause an unravelling...

[He stops and notices that Spock is leaving, his pen pausing. He doesn't turn around, but he does tilt his head in Spock's direction.]

...A-and thank you. Peter always said it was difficult to deal with me. Your patience is appreciated.

[Then he goes back to writing on the walls.]

[That causes the Vulcan to stop... and look back at the man.]

May I inquire as to your need for haste in returning home?

[Does Spock actually feel bad? If he was asked, he would deny it, stating that it is a human emotion that Vulcans lack.. or control... whatever.
The man is obviously a genius... and it makes Walter all the more a curiosity to Spock.]

...My world is being destroyed.

[His pen slows.]

Two things can't occupy the same space, one must give and...to destroy one to save another, a sacrifice greater than anything imaginable must be made. The calm before the storm is now, but soon, the worlds will start to crumble. I know it. Belly and I both foresaw it.

[He digs the pen into the wall and then starts writing again, formulas giving him solace where his own thoughts won't.]

You are familiar with the theory of parallel universes?

I am quite familiar with it, yes.

[More than most would know.]

What would be given though?

[The Vulcan takes a step closer to the wall, looking over some of the equations.]

Then you understand what would happen if both universes were to merge and try to occupy the same space.

[He finishes one string and moves to another, jumping from place to place seemingly without any sense of logic until Spock asks that question. His pen freezes mid-number.]

...My son. My only son.

As if God himself were punishing me for what I did over twenty years ago. He asks for my son as the key to stopping the destruction of our universes.

[Spock's brows furrow as he regards Walter.]

What is it that your son has that would prevent universal destruction?

...He died in my universe.

[He clutches the pen to his chest.]

He died from a degenerative disease, it ravaged him so quickly I couldn't create a cure. But the other me - he almost had it, but missed the reaction. I recreated and stabilized his compound, crossed the universe barrier to save my son...but everything went wrong.

[Walter sits on an overturned mattress, putting his hands to his head, covering his eyes.]

I couldn't save him without bringing him back, but then I couldn't return him. He's a child of two worlds. The only one the machine responds to.

[Spock didn't know what to say. He didn't have enough information to make a logical conclusion...

...but he truly hoped it wasn't as it sounded.]

Mister Bishop, what machine? What went wrong? [It was vitally important.]

I-I don't know. It's ancient, far older than anything recorded on our planet, left by what were called the First People. [He looks up at Spock, tears in his eyes.] My son is the key to powering the machine, but it will kill him. I will lose him and I have to let him go so he can save the world.

[Spock's brows furrowed...]

Do you know that for certain? [If there was a chance for a small grain of hope, then they could at least explore other theories.]

[He searches his pockets, but they're empty. He hasn't found the drawing since coming to Luceti, even though he searches.]

He has proven that the machine only reacts to him, but... there was a drawing - an ancient drawing that showed us... I don't have it anymore. [Walter keeps searching, turning his pockets inside out]

Confound it! Is nothing where it needs to be anymore?!

[Spock just stands there.]

Please, remain calm. Perhaps the drawing you speak of has appear in the items shop? That is often the case for those of us who had belongings that did not make it through being transported here.

God, I hope not...If anyone got it into their heads to create that machine, it could be disastrous.

[He stops rifling through his pockets and finds his pen again, writing on his right hand: Find Blueprints.]

I doubt anyone here would want to build that machine, nor posses the materials to do so. It takes quite some time to develop anything at all here.

[Spock's own hand twitched in reaction. He would never write anything on it, goodness.
Well, at least Walter seemed calmer now.]

Do you still have interest in seeing my lab?

Time, it seems, is what we have in abundance here if calculations are correct. From what I heard, it's often all we have - free time.

[He reached behind himself and pulled out a feather, wincing at the strange pain.]

Yes. I need a variable sample. Give me one of your feathers.

[Spock stares at Walter, eyes wide in surprise and shock as the feather is pulled from his wing. How could he do that and not show pain?]

No. Any wing alteration causes severe, chronic pain. I suggest you refrain from mutilating yourself, otherwise you may succumb to unconsciousness.

Oh stop being a baby, it's only one.

[Even if he sort of wants to throw up now. It's for SCIENCE, Spock!]

[Spock shakes his head. He has morals, after all. And if he finds out that Walter has been asking other people for their feathers, they'll have to have a 'chat'.]

Follow me please.

[The Vulcan leads them out of the building, and towards his home.]

[He follows, but as he does, he's trying to get his hands on one of Spock's feathers. IT'S ONLY ONE. COME ON, SCIENCE BRO.]

[Spock resists the urge to flap his hands at Walter to keep him away from his wings, but manages to refrain as they arrive at his house. Taking them inside, the Vulcan leads them to a door with a keypad... and promptly codes it to open the door.]

Please, come in.

[Inside is cramped and crude, especially considering what Spock is used to, but the lab serves its purpose.]

[Well then. He heads inside, marvelling at the advanced tech in here. Of course, it makes sense his tech is advanced - he's Spock, but it was still fascinating to see in person. He goes to one of the cabinets and taps it, peering at it.]

And you were able to recreate all of this from scratch?

It took quite some time, and no small amount of patience, but it is functional. Most of this runs off of my PADD.

[The Vulcan holds up a sleek tablet.] This is what I use to create various simulation programs at the Dome.

If it assists you, please feel free to utilize this lab whenever you wish.

I may yes.....

[He trails off, tapping the various surfaces to see what does what. Until he can recreate his own lab, this will do - most of the equipment here is far advanced beyond anything he knows in his own world. He gingerly rests his palm against one of the drawers and closes his eyes.]

Thank you...Mr. Spock. I-I feel much better knowing there are labs here.

[Spock can appreciate that... needing something to center yourself in a place so strange and inexplicable.]
